THE PAUL J. COYNE CREATIVE ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS
It was my goal that these scholarships, which I've funded at Milford High School since 1999, would be won for more than just talent or creative excellence. I seek students that take the time to look at their world and appreciate the gift of existence.
Each student is required to present not only samples of their talent but also a work entitled (with intended vagueness) "The World As I See It". The awards are for personal integrity and openness as much as for creativity. Musicians, singers, filmmakers, photographers, and fine artists have all been awarded scholarships.
Scholarships are awarded in three categories:
CREATIVE ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS - Excellence in Fine Arts, Photography, or Music. (Two annually)
DISTINGUISHED AUTHOR AWARD - Excellence in creative writing, poetry, or playwriting. (Two annually)
FILMMAKER'S AWARD - Excellence in TV or film production. (Awarded as warranted)
The ELAINE COYNE-WOMEN IN FILM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is also awarded at Fitchburg State College.
