DENNY'S CLASSIC DINER - ROUTE 66, LA VERNE, CALIFORNIA

DENNY'S has, in the last few years, tried to resurrect it's image by returning to yesterday. Built by the Starlite company, there are several of these retro restaurants springing up all over the country. I'm no fan of Denny's. They used to give you a free meal on your birthday. I would forget this fact every year but finally, on a return trip from Canada I realized that it was my birthday and there were several Denny's along the way. My friend Esther and I decided to stop in each one we came across and grab a piece of pie.

We walked into the first one we found, prepared to commence our indulgence. It was then that the waitress informed us that they had stopped that practice the year before.

Denny's food leaves much to be desired. If it ain't free, it ain't worth my money. Just my opinion, of course.
